Do I need to install adapters in test system if I am only interfacing with R3 system? Installation in XI 3.0 and in the post processing stage.

The XI 3.0 installation process includes a centralized J2EE adapter engine. There is no need for a separate adapter installation.
Besides ABAP proxy, only IDoc and HTTP do not need an adapter engine.
