Use of Spool request

Dear All,

Sorry for posting some basic questions. But I am not clear in basics of this topic.

Please explain me some basics about Spool request.

1. When the spool will be generated, how to identify in the delivery that, some spool got generated for those output types in the Deliver?

2. Is the spool generation printer oriented? For example, if I have only Dot matrix printer, is it possible to generate Spool?

3. In the Delivery, if I have 5 Similar output types (LD00), does it generate 5 different Spool or 1 Spool?

4. In the Delivery, if I have 5 Different output types (LD00, LD01, LD02, LD03, LD04), does it generate 5 different Spool or 1 Spool?

3. After the Spool generated, in SP02, how to identify the particular spool which is generated for a particular output? For example, I need to identify the output LD00 for a particular Delivery, is that possible?

4. How to identify the Spool retention period?

Regards,

Mullairaja

Hi

Check the fields of table NAST. Search for fields KAPPL = 'V2' and OBJKY = delivery document (populate zeros in the left).

1. When the spool will be generated, how to identify in the delivery that, some spool got generated for those output types in the Deliver?

Via the status of the output type.

2. Is the spool generation printer oriented? For example, if I have only Dot matrix printer, is it possible to generate Spool?

It is triggered via the output type.

3. In the Delivery, if I have 5 Similar output types (LD00), does it generate 5 different Spool or 1 Spool?

5, per each output type, doesn't matter whether it is the same output type.

4. In the Delivery, if I have 5 Different output types (LD00, LD01, LD02, LD03, LD04), does it generate 5 different Spool or 1 Spool?

5 different spools

3. After the Spool generated, in SP02, how to identify the particular spool which is generated for a particular output? For example, I need to identify the output LD00 for a particular Delivery, is that possible?

You cannot identify the deilvery however, by maintainting the output as the 'spool request name' or 'suffix1' or suffix 2' in the output condition record you may identify the output type in SP02.

4. How to identify the Spool retention period?

It is set at OS level. cant tell from spools.

Dear Kalyan Gorla,

Thank you very much for the reply. It was really useful.

I need some more clarification on some areas. Could you please those doubts also.

You told me that Spool generation can be identified based on Output type status. Please explain how to identify from the output type status. Doesn't print has any role on spool generation? Please clarify.

Also you told me that, spool can be identified based spool request name, suffix1 and suffix2. If we maintain Spool request name, suffix1 and suffix2, how to identify the particular spool which was generated from similar output types? Could you please explain this?

Thanks in advance.

The outputs are typically triggered via the documents. For example, you'd be able to see output type LD00 (pick list) in a delivery document. You have to navigate to the outputs in a document and identify the output types associated/triggered with the document. The first column represents the status of the output. If it is green then the output has been successfully processed which in turn is deemed to have triggered a spool.

Also you told me that, spool can be identified based spool request name, suffix1 and suffix2. If we maintain Spool request name, suffix1 and suffix2, how to identify the particular spool which was generated from similar output types? Could you please explain this?

The combination with respect to the output type and printer should be unique so that you can maintain the said identifiers. Even if the output type is the same and as long as you have a unique condition record, you will be able to distinguish.
