Re. Building Roles for Screen Resolution: 600 x 800

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has tips or knows of documentation outlining best practices for building a portal interface to best fit a screen resolution of 600 x 800. Any help is appreciated. I'm trying to build an interface to target a specific audience that will likely be using older equipment.
