Hi all,
Does somebody know how much data traffic goes between the Business One Client and Server? The point is we are planning to introduce sap business one. I have a main subsidiary where the server is and some smaller subsidiaries all over the world. I wanted to connect these subsidiaries just via a VPN to our sap server and install the client software on their pc. Our consultant told me that we have to use a terminal server for that, because the data traffic between server and client is pretty high. I was surprised because in my old company we had running 120 SAP R/3 User over a 2Mbit/s VPN connection. So is it true that the traffic is pretty high compared to R/3? Or can somebody tell me how much bandwidth I have to plan for each user?
regards, Nils
The architecture of Business One is different from R/3. Business One is a fat client application, as such a lot of data is transfered to the client for processing. Your consultant is giving you the correct information - it is recommended to use Business One in a LAN environment, or to use Terminal Server/Citrix when in a WAN environment.
John.

It is true that the nature of a fat client is to use a lot of bandwidth but we have been running a small number of clients on a vpn with grate success. The lines was also shared with outlook exchange traffic and other things. It could be worth investigating if you have a test lab.
