Advantages - ( Revtrac & CTS+) Over Revtrac

Hi

Currently we are using Revtrac for portal and ABAP transports.

I am planning to propose Revtrac with CTS+ for transport process. I would like to know Pros and Cons on the same when using Revtrac alone and along with Revtrac with CTS+.

Please get back to me.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Rev-Trac manages non ABAP change using a deployment add-on hosted by a web application.

Alternatively, and recommended by RSC, Rev-Trac will support the use of CTS+ transports in the same way as it manages ABAP transports.

The advantages of using Rev-Trac and CTS+ is that you will be utilising the underlying SAP technology to perform the migration of your non-ABAP change.

Further to this, you will not need to run the deployment add-on to facilitate your non-ABAP migration.

Except for the initial CTS+ configuration, there are no real con's when using Rev-Trac with CTS+.

It should be noted that Collision detection (known in Rev-Trac as OOPS - Overtake and Overwrite Protection System) can only be achieved for non-ABAP objects via the Rev-Trac web application add on.

Hope this helps.

Chris,

Your BC does not mention the company you are working for but if I looked this up correctly you are working for RSC. Nothing against a good insight view, but could you also mention this?

That said: do you have other information to share in regards to rev-trac and portal transports? rev-trac depends on CTS? If so: where is the benefit in using rev-trac when I also have to deal with CTS?
