Hi,
Kindly let me know whether it is possible to enter serial numbers for a BOM child material in a production order. In case yes, then under what circumstances (parameters) and where do we display it in a production order? e.g. for a BOM parent material, we display it in transaction CO03 --> Header --> Serial Numbers.
Hi Sourav,
You can maintin serial number for components in compoenet overview of the production order. You can alos trigger batch determination for compoennets from Menu option of Componenent-Batch Management-trigger battch detrmination.
kindly check and revert if nay questions.

Oh i am sorry Sourav. You can enter batch number and not a serial number in compoenent overview screen.
For Compoennet serail numbers, you have to use AS-BUILT in IBASE functaionality of PP_PM. You can maintain the retaionships in COIB.
Or once you create a equipment / serail number at header level, cretae ibase using IB51 and mainatin all the components and thire serial numbers in IBASE.
COIB is quite easy to use and understand.
NO Serial No could not be arrranged in BOM.If you check in OIS2,select the serial no profile, 0001,select it and click on seriliastion procedures.here yopu will come to know that serial no could be maintained at either at the time of the time good receipts or in production order or in while releasing the production order. For any doubts please rvert back
Thx

Hi,
If your aim is to establish a configuration relationship, you have to enter the related equipment numbers (a materail-serial number combination) of child materials under the parent equipment number. You may use transaction IQ02 for this purpose. In structure tab, you can install sub-equipments. If you want to track serial numbers movement based, you have to enter serial numbers in material movement transactions.

Dear Sourav,
In myunderstanding I dont think we can maintain the serial numbers for the components in the production order, but however
while performing GI using MB1A or during CO11N(,if backflushing is activated) we can enter the serial numbers for the
components and then using documented goods movements we can trace for each production in CO03 or else in COOIS.
But kindly check with T.Code COIB which seems to define the header-component serial no relationship.
Check and revert with your findings.
