Please note there is only the option for display sequence, not sort order, display sequence is for which characteristics are displayed in the CSE and in what order, each seperate column then if defined as such, can be relevent for sorting, i.e. in each individual characteristic there is an option for setting a char as relevent for sorting/searching in results.

Jason

ah i have found the characteristic relevant for sorting only is doesn't do anything on the initial presentation of the catalog, that remains in a unknown sort order. I was also looking since you can sort the columns as you like if I can set a column already as default in the presentation so that the user doesn't have to click.

the problem is that we have like 20 products which are merely the same but also have a different characteristic in service level agreement. there are a few products that are standard so we want to present those on top of the list. now the products that are outside the standard are on top.

Hi Arthur,

Please check the note [1007763 |https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1007763]which will provide you with the customizing entries required to enable this automatic sorting in the CSE. Once completed please close the thread here if you are satisfied with the result. Please note that automatic sorting is only available on the description and ID.

I believe the note is for srm 6.4 and we are on srm 5.5 ??

or can it also be implemented for older versions somehow ?

Hi Arthur,

The note is valid for CCM releases, not for SRM

Software

Component Release From

Release To

Release And

subsequent

CCM 200_640 200_640 200_640

CCM 200_700 200_700 200_700

It is valid in your case.

ah the development system was not yet open for importing notes (it has been recently changed with a new copy of production)

I implemented the note but in debuggin I found out that the note only sorts the categories and not the products itself in a certain order. it looked promising but sorting categories is not the problem though

when i read back the note it also states that it sorts the categories and not the products.

Hi,

The items will be sorted in the search engine, if the customizing switch is maintained, i.e. the switch in /CCM/CUST CSE_CTY_SORT_ORDER with value ID, in order for this sort order to be implemented, the catalog must be published again.

after publish the sort order is still not on description of the items. and I had also changed the view /CCM/CUST accordingly ?

as said in debugging and also in the note I only found out that the sort order of the categories was influenced ?

Dear Arthur,

Sorry - there is no method of automatically doing this before accessing the CSE, the fields have sort fields which can be executed in the CSE sorting ascending or decending, but no option exists to do this automatically.

Sorry!

hmmm that really s...s . is there any way to influence the sort order of components on initial creation of the catalog ??

it is not the sort order of the catalog file so does sap do the import completly randomly ??

I heard that the catalog sorts the items according to the rate they are ordered so that the most ordererd items will appear on top of the list during a while ?

Is a catalog working this way ? and so yes where can I change or influence or watch this behaviour ?

kind regards

Hi Arthur,

I am actually not sure how/where the file splitting procedure defines the sort order of the interpreted data, I guess some of the methods of the /CCM/CL_FILE_UPLOAD* classes deal with the sorting, maybe one of the called subroutines of methods like UPLOAD_FILE_CONTENT deal with the sorting order, I would expect, if any sorting was done though it would happen before file splitting but I am not sure how this works sorry

Jason

Hi Arthur,

The display sequence can be altered in the catalog authoring tool, more details are available [here |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_ccm20/helpdata/en/3f/3166e98d564c45ba9385187d7cc3cb/content.htm]

I have also find

but the sort order of the csv file is also not the sort order in the catalog ??

I am getting clueless here how to influence the sort order and also the strange fact that I am one of the few in the world missing this functionality ??
