Hello All

A couple of q's about the Adobe solution.

1) I have just installed the linux version of SAP NetWeaver 04 testdrive SR1.

According to documentation Web AS 6.40 shuld have a new tool in ABAP Workbench called the Form Builder, but I can't find it anywhere in my testdrive version ?

2) Prerequisites should be Adobe Designer is installed with the SAP front end.

Is this Adobe Designer integrated in new SAPgui versions or how must I install it ?

Best regards

Hello again

Thank you Subramanian V, I have the <b>SFP</b> transaction.

Now can anyone tell me about the prerequisites - the Adobe Designer ?

Is this Adobe Designer integrated in new SAPgui versions or how must I install it ?

Hi Thomas,

Do you have Netweaver Studio installed ? I believe it comes with that, as I tried to install that, it did ask me to install Adobe Designer.

In fact, there are a lot of documents about Adobe on the mainpage of http://sdn.sap.com and some e-learning material available, if you check out in the SERVICES section.

Your question seems to have been answered, but let me add this on frontend installations:

- If you want to create forms in the ABAP environment, you need to install the Designer with your SAP GUI (there is a selection option called Forms Designer). You do your work either in the ABAP Workbench directly (SE80) or in transaction SFP.

- If you want to develop Web Dynpro for Java applications using the InteractiveForm UI element, which is what SAP currently recommends for interactive scenarios using forms, install the NetWeaver Developer Studio and check the checkbox that prompts for the installation of Designer during the installation process.

In both cases, you need the Adobe document services running on the backend to be able to generate PDF forms. For the services, there are an Installation and a Configuration Guide in the SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/nw04installation

Thank you Markus

What version of SAPgui do I need for the ABAP version of this ?

I have installed NW 04 for linux and MaxDB.

On windows client I have installed

1)SAPgui 620 Patch level 32.

2) Java 2 SDK, SE v1.4.2_06

3) From the NW 04 DVD i installed SAP NetWeaver Developer studio 2.0.4 and in the installation proces I also selected "install Forms Design Tool Adobe designer", but according to Markus Meisl this is not relevant if I want to use transaction SFP?

When i enter the Form Builder in SAPgui I am able to open a form (ie. FP_TEST_01) but when i click on the layout tab I get a dump:

MESSAGE_TYPE_X

Program Name CL_GUI_CFW====================CP

Include CL_GUI_CFW====================CM002

Row 23

Module type (METHOD)

Module Name FLUSH

Message id 'CDNP' type 'X' number 006 raising CNTL_ERROR.

Any idea what I can do? My own guess is that I need a new SAPgui ?

Hi Thomas

I would agree with you. The best way to get this working for you is a new SAP GUI installation. You can install the last version of either 6.20 or 6.40 from the Marketplace, both contain the latest Designer versions released to SAP customers.

I guess my explanation wasn't clear enough. For forms design, the Designer is installed with the required frontend: If you want to develop in ABAP (transaction SFP), you need the SAP GUI with the Designer option checked, if you want to do Java development, you need to install the NetWeaver Developer Studio with the Designer option checked. (You don't need the Dev Studio for ABAP development.)

This is for design time only. For the run time, you need to install the J2EE Engine and deploy on it the Adobe document services, they generate the PDFs.

Markus

Thanks Markus

I think I am now ready to get started with the Form builder tool.

Maybe I will ask more questions later on, when/if I get problems with the run time stuff.
