Control User Password Error

I am trying to install IDES ECC 6.0 on MaxDB 7.6; but when i got to the point of setting up passwords

Database System Administrators Account and Database Manager Operator(Control Account) I keep getting an error message:

''The check of the control user password failed. check logfile XCMDOUT.LOG''

The message inside the logfile reads:

> Subprocess starts at 20110511073619

Execute Command : C:\Program Files\sdb\programs\pgm\dbmcli.exe -n ecc1 -d ECC -u control,******** db_state

Execute Session Command : exit

> Subprocess stops at 20110511073619

> Subprocess call failed

Error! Connection failed to node ecc1 for database ECC:

-24950,ERR_USRFAIL: User authorization failed

Please help this had held back my installation for a whole days
