Experts,
could some one please help me understand the advantage/disdvantages
1. having multiple slocs assigned to one wm
2. making all slocs into 1 sloc and assign it to wm
we have 5 slocs now and we want to implement WM. we are trying to understand if we combine all sloc into one and assign to one wm or keep these sloc as it is and assign them to one wm.
HI,
It depeds on busuness requirement. If your business needs one ware house number then you will create one warehouse.
You can assign multiple storage locations to ONE WAREHOUSE number.
In your case assign all 5 storage locations to one warehouse number.
I dont think we have II option which u mentioned. i.e. assigning all storage locations to one sto. loc. and assign that stol.oc. to one warehouse number. you can do it by keeping one main storage location and transfer the stockes from other 4 sto. loc. and maintain one warehouse number.
Advantage from this is your bin configuration will be easy.
Disadvantage is you are messing up all your stocks...
i suggest to go with your point no.1

Viru

if you had setup storage locations for your bins because of missing WM, then you should combine them to one location when implementing WM.
linking several storage locations to WM is not a big deal, but it increases complexity in the interfaces of WM (optional customizing). Further the users have to enter the storage location when creating transport orders, so it increases slightly the workload of the users.
