Activities not getting activated & hence not moving to Transport View NWDS

Hello Everyone,

We are facing a issue, we have made a change to one of the custom DC's and created an activity for that and checked in the activity too. But when we tried to activate it, its gng on running for long time and not stopping. I suspended and resumed the activity from CBS Web UI and as it is also running for very long time. I cancelled the activity in Web UI.

Finally i created another activity, replicated the change again, checked in & activated. then it said it has a predecessor activity & showed the earlier activity and i am forced to activate along with the predecessor activity. When selected activate, again its going on running.

I have a question here, if i make a change with another nwdi user id, do check in and activate. will it again show up the predecessor activities(my old activities) or it can be activated without any problem.

Please share your ideas, which can help us.

Thanks & Regards,

Ravi

Hi,

If you make the activity with other user id it will show the predecessor activities.

The issue is with the CBS service, In Visual Admin check if the CBS service is stopped.

Or the activity might be queued in TCS Deployer, check the http://<hostname>:<portno>/TCS/Deployer

And see there are no activities in Queue.

Hope this helps.

Hi promod,

Thanks for your reply....There are few activities queued up and one activity related to my buildspace in the url http://<hostname>:<portno>/TCS/Deployer. Should we need to clear them from here. If yes, how to do that. Please let me know, what we need to do based on this data.

Hi,

When in the TCS/Deployer you will see different options:

Trigger Deployment

Check Deployment Status

Show List of deployments

Advanced Operations

Now see the Buildspace where the activities are queued, copy the Buildspace and in the input box next to Trigger Deployment give the buildspace and click on submit.

Once you do that the queued activities will be released.

Hope this helps.

Hi Promod,

I did the same as you said, I have given my buildspace and clicked on Trigger Deployment. it showed a message as "Deployment successfull started...." and in log its showing deployment finished & no archives to deploy etc. But my activities are still in queued state only. Does 'Advance Operations' will have any useful option ?

Thanks & Regards,

Ravi

Hi Ravi,

After the trigger deployment, check the CBS WebUI.

In CBS WebUI you will have all the Buildspaces, check if the activities are in Queued Request or Processing Request?

If it's in Processing Request it will take some time before the whole deployment is done.

If the Requests are queued then, in Visual Admin check the CBS service is off or running. If it is off restart the service and the activities resume the processing and it will let you go forward in the track.

Hope this helps.

Hi Swaralipi,

Can you please let me know how can we check that?

Hi Shweta,

you can do it this way:

(NWDI)(CBS) CBS requests - Queued - Technology Troubleshooting Guide - SCN Wiki

On the screenshot you can see the Input Mode that can be OPEN/CLOSED/PRIVILIGED.

Open means it is able to receive incoming build requests, closed means it is not, and priviliged means it is just processing build requests.

Cheers,

Ervin

Hi,

Please check why the activity is getting suspended from CMS logs. If there is some problem in NWDI, creating new activities will not serve the purpose.

Thanks

Hi Swaralipi,

Thanks for your reply. Actually its not getting suspended, i manually suspended and resumed it once when i found that its going for very long time(more than a day). Could you please let me know, where to find CMS logs for this.
