WEB Application Server 6.40 and 46C

Hi ,

We currently have a SAP 46C System. We were thinking that we should web-enable our SAP System. So we are looking into options which we should be following:The main option we are evaluating is using ITS 6.20 but we were suggested that we should install WEB Application Server 6.40. We always thought that WAS 6.40 only supports mySAP.com components and that we might have to upgrade our system from 46c to mySAP ERP or some other new product. We wanted to confirm if these assumptions are correct...

Any information/Documentation regarding this would be welcome...

Thanks,

Yogi.

Hi,

If you want to use integrated ITS, you have to have WAS 6.40.

To have WAS 6.40, you should have NetWeaver which comes with mySAP ERP.

Note that you cann't run R/3 Enterprise with WAS 6.40.

Hope this helps.

It depends a bit on what you want. Do you want simply have web enabled SAP screens then ITS aka WebGUI could be fine. ITS is now integrated in Web AS 6.4. If you want to develop also web apps, you need Web AS anyway or any other web application server/language which can connect to 46C.

All our web enabled apps are written in Web AS BSP.

Even now that we have 4.7 (EE), we still use a seperate Web AS server for security reasons.

And there is alos the option of creating iViews via EP 6.

It depends a bit on what you want, how complicated your existing SAP stuff is and if you want new web applications or just preserve the current stuff.
