LSMW with MM17

Hi friends;

I am trying to use LSMW with transaction MM17 to update NCM (classification number for foreign trade) MARC-STEUC in material master record but it does not save the changes.

All the process is done without error but when I go to check the foreign trade view MARC-STEUC in material master I see that the change does not occured.

Does anyone have faced this problem?

you did in LSMW a recording for MM17? you recorded in a mass update tool a mass update function?

Where do you expect the benefit in doing so?

Use BAPI method in LSMW to update that field, or record a single transaction like MMZ2 (MM02 does not really work for recordings because of the dynamic view selection).

I know it's no sense recording in a mass update tool a mass update function.

I wan to use BAPI method in LSMW to update the field MARC-STEUC in the material master but I have never used de BAPI method. Could you guide me on doing that?

There is not really much difference, step 1 in LSMW is already much easier as you only need to press F4 twice (to select the right BAPI and its method instead of doing a full recording.

in step 2 and 3 definition of source file and source fields, there is not any change at all

in step 4 assigning of source structure to target structure, you have to assign your source to structure where your target field is in and to all above hierarchies, as well as to the structure with the X at the end of the name.

In field mapping, you move the value in the structure without the X in the name, and in the structure with the X ín the name, you move a X as a fix value to all fields that you want change.

all other steps are not really different,

So using Bapi in LSMW is much easier than I thought. I'm going to follow this process to update the MARC-STEUC field in material master record.
