COPA Cube

Hi,

We have a COPA requirement and We are planning to use the Business Content Cube and Queries:

Cube: 0COPA_C01 ( I am not sure about this cube)

Queries: Operating Profit, Contribution Margin, and Net Sales

Prior to choosing the Cube I have a few questions:

1. Which Cube I can prefer? (is 0COPA_C01 the rigth one?)

2. Is ODS required for this Cube? If so what are the Key Fields and How do we define the keys for the ODS? Please clarify me.

you don't need an ODS to do CO-PA extraction. CO-PA costing based extractors are able to deliver deltas so you can simply load deltas into your cube. There is one important thing you need to look at when modelling a CO-PA cube. Do you want to use key figure based reporting or account based reporting? Key figure based means that you create one key figure in your InfoCube per key figure in your CO-PA. Account based means that you have a characteristics like ACCOUNT or KEYFNAME which stores e.g. the name of the key figure and only two key figures 0AMOUNT and 0QUANTITY.

This has nothing to do with using account based or costing based CO-PA.

I recommend using an account based model because it makes changes easier especially if key figures change quite often. If there are any questions feel free to ask.

Hi,

I think, that it is not possible for you to use the BCT COPA cube. COPA is very special for every company. This is also the reason why there is no BCT COPA extractor. But what you can do is, use the BCT cube as a template to create your own.

It is possible to use a ODS but: check out your COPA-Objects. A object is defined by 20, 30, 40 or more characeristics. As the COPA-Object is not delivered by the extractor you will normally need all these characteristics as keyfields in the ODS.
