batch control without serial number

Hello,

I am just a beginner and i need some professionals' help 😊

I want to ask you about batch control. For our system, we need 3 batch types for some materials. In fact its about PM scenario.

This material are repairable fixed assets. We dont need to follow their serial number but we want to know how many "NEW" or "DEFECTIVE" or "REPAIRED" material i've got in my storage locations or on plant.

IS a BOM structure is suitable for me, or what can i use for this situation?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can use batch management for this. A couple of ideas:

    1. Use the batch name to designate the status - i.e. simply create three batches:

    NEW

    DEFECTIVE

    REPAIRED

This is OK unless you need tio really track batches - i.e. real batch numbers

This is a simple solution - and provides easy reporting on how much is in each batch.

    2. Assign a characteritic (i.e. in batch classification) to the material for class (022 or 023 dependeing on batch level).

The characteristic would have the allowed values:

    NEW

    DEFECTIVE

    REPAIRED

You may need a custom report in this case.

You don't need a BOM - this is unrelated.

    Hi,

As explaned in the above thread activate batch management only at material level

You can see the batchwise stock report in all standard SAP transactions MMBE , MB52

    Thanks

often such a segregation is used to have different values for the quantities in each one of the types.

Using the standard Logistics batch managment does not take care about the costs, any batch will have the same price per quantitiy. Controllers and auditors does not really like to see DEFECTIVE items with full valuation.

if you would use split valuation (without batch managment required) then you can realize a different valuatin for each type.

the valuation type itself becomes automatically the batch.

So you have in general the same features and requirements like in Logistics Batch Management with the benefit of financial aspects.

      Hello again,

Our problem is solved.we will use batch control with 3 types, use 309 movement type to change batch for every maintenance order. After every order, "DEFECTIVE" material's count will increase, "NEW" or "REPAIRED" one's will be decreased as our consumption.

When "DEFECTIVE"s count is more than 20 for a material on a storage location, repair process will be activated and all of them will be "REPAIRED".

BOM will be used just for road map for users and it will provide us material's count for every maintenance plant.

      Thanks to all of you.
