different Livecache versions on the same host

Hi All,

I am looking for an option to install a new Livecache 7.7 version on a host where other Livecache 7.6 versions already installed.

While performing the installation with sapinst we do not have the possibility to specify different indep_prog and -depend options

what sdbinst uses. Let me know if we have some tricks to achieve it.

Hello Kumar,

The installation distinguishes between different software directories.

These are described in

as you know.

<independent_program_path>: /sapdb/programs by default SAP install

This directory contains downward-compatible instance- or version-independent software.

So after you will install the liveCache instance to the version 7.7 you will not have any issues with another instance of the 7.6. version or application servers due the independent database software updated to the version 7.7.

Why do you need some tricks?
