Reports Server - dynamic reconfiguration needed for long-running reports

We have a need to permit users to submit large reports via scheduler from the hours of 8 pm to 2 am.

These reports currently fail due to the daytime configuration limits on the row count and the elapsed time.

I guess effectively we need to stop, change the config, and restart the reporting servers to expand the day-time row and elapsed time limits that are imposed.

Can this be done thru the CMC API or is there a better way to accomodate this need via Powerscript or some other mechanism ?

you could create a Servergroup and add new Report Servers to this Group. Configure the Servers as you wish and assign this Group to your scheduled Reports.

I've read about the CMC and it's that the way to go ?

Or can this be scripted by simply turning off each server process, swapping a new configuration file, and restart the processes ?

There's got to be a way to do this....I find it hard to believe no one else has this need.

It just makes sense: you want to prevent long-running queries during the day to keep response time low, and then let them rip overnight when interactive users are few.
