Configure SLD for R/3 4.6C IDoc - XI 3.0 - R/3 4.6C Idoc Scenario

Hi,

I have a question:

"I have to build an scenario to send Idocs from an R/3 4.6C system to another R/3 4.6C system through XI 3.0.

I want to know if I have to use the Software Component Version SAP R/3 4.6C and its Product Version or if I have to create a new Product and Software Component Version in the SLD to Start the Development of the Business Scenarios in the Integration Repository."

I don´t expect to use any delivered mapping and scenario from SAP, so I supose that it's better to set up a Customer Product Version and a Customer Software Component Version to import them into de Integration Repository to begin development. Then I have to Import from the R/3 Systems the Idoc's and set up the Interface and Program Mappings.

Am I in the right way??

Is it better to Import the SAP BASIS 4.6C and SAP APPL 4.6C and create Customer Namespaces??

I have to use the Idoc Adapter so I need the Idoc Adapter Metadata. I have noticed that the matadata is into the SAP BASIS 640 Component Version.

So Do I have to Import this Software Component Version or make a dependencie with my customer Product and Software component Version?

Thanks for any replies

When you want to do customer development in the Integration Builder, then you should create an own product and software component name. You need not refer to SAP components unless you do not want to refer to development objects from there. But you need not refer to Adapter Metadata, they will be available anyway.

A useful way to order your software component names could be like that:

YourCompany_SAP_R/3 as component and 4.6C as version, if you want to do customer development concerning the R/3.

YourCompany_Vendor_Product as component, if you want to customer development concerning a third party product.

I hope that helps you a little.

Stefan or Luis,

Would you create a Technical and Business system with the same name syntax (YourCompany_SAP_R/3)?

I originally created technical and business system in the fashion of system id (ex. "RD0") and had my SW product and component named RD0_120 (id and client).

I want to name them appropriately so they make more sense later when we start transporting to QA and PROD systems (we are using single SLD).

Any more advice or lessons learned on SLD naming?

Thanks
