uncorrect value in matching records

Hi

I am facing an error when importing an hierarchy file through the import manager.

I added only one new hierarchy to to the catalog & although this, in match records label, I recieve 490 categories (which is all records in the catalog) in match label "none". How could this be? if in the uploaded file there is only one new hierarchy?

If I press create to 490 that already exist in the catalog, what could be the result of this?

Thanks

Hila

Review your matching criteria, to make sure you have that set properly. Then, go back and look at the data. Did it automap the values properly? Are there subtle differences (like trailing spaces) that are causing the compare to fail?

What happens when you get to the final tab. Does it say Ready to Import or report an error?

    Hope this helps,

      Hi Steve

I have reviewed my matching criteria & it semms o.k. The values were automapped correctly. I added one new category to the hierarchy and it was added succesfully. also it's said "ready to import", it's just not understandable why it brings 490 values to the import actions as if it's the first time they are added to the catalog hierarchy although they exist in the catalog for a long time..

Do you have an idea what could have caused this situation?

If I choose the "create"option, what do you think could happen? the existing items could be damaged by this move?

      Thanks,

      Hila

    In additional to Steven recommendations.

Are you importing just hierarchy to hierarchy table?

    or

Do you wanted to add new hierarchy branch and link it to records in main table?

For second you need to have in your source file something like next data:

branch name(the same as in your hierarchy)

unique key for records in main table(records linked to your new hierarchy branch)

i suppose your matching returned so many empty fields because you have added hierarchy branch and haven't linked apropriate records to this new branch.

I hope this help your to solve your problem.

the matching criteria shouldnt be the name of what u see in the hierarchy - it should be instead the unique ID as is used in the hierarchy table.

    thanks

if u are adding one category at a time : its easier to do the same directly in the data manager in the hierrachy mode
