Re: Installing SAP B1 8.81 and SQL 2008 on seperate servers

Hi, Is it possible to have SQL server 2008 running the SAP Database on one server and SAP B1 8.81 application and server tools on another server.

The reason for this is I have a customer who is currently running sharepoint on the server which has SQL 2008, we doing an upgrade and they bought a new server, and they want SAP installed on the new server, but they dont want to purchase sql licenses for the new server. Thus they want the SAP database to sit on the SQL server which currently has sharepoint and application on the new server.

Any help and comments will be appreciated

Regards

    Hi Dhinash

As going by the general and SAP practices we should not excercise this in practical but personally i don't feel there would not be any stoppage ain doing so

please try and create the environment on the test server before u go ahead with Live

    Regards,

We have several customers where this is the standard set up. It takes the traffic off the server doing the work too.
