select statement question

Hello,

I have a basic question about select statement which SAP Help cant answer.

E.g.

Select %Ent%, where ent refers to entity dimension. but where is usually the mapping done between ent and entity?

Thanks.

    Hi Zack,

What mapping are you talking about? There is no mapping required for the select statement.

If you look at the select statement closely, the syntax is:

    *SELECT (, , , )

    For example,

*SELECT(%ENT%, ID, ENTITY, "CURRENCY = 'EUR'")

The above statement doesnt require any mapping between %ENT% and the entity dimension. The above statement will fetch all the IDs from the ENTITY dimension for which currency is EUR. These IDs will then be stored in the variable %ENT%. You can use any variable you want to instead of ENT.

    Hope this helps.
