Project Stock Consumption

Hi

We have a Business Requirement that we need to consume the Project stock when WBS Element Account Assigned Sales Order is created. Meaning the Project stock should be depleted when sales orders are created.

To achieve this I have created Q Stock type. My problem is whenever I am creating account assigned sales order instead of using the Q stock, system is creating new MRP segment, thereby project stock is not consumed.

Question: Am I right by Creating Q stock for Project. If not what is the right special stock I have to create for the project and how should I consume the stock. Finally when I consume system should reduce the Project stock

can you explain your business scenario..is it MTO, ETO or ATO.

How you are going to consume the stock material. is it for production or for assembly.

Hi

The Scenario is that we create a contract. project is created automatically in once the contract is saved and status is released. With reference to the contract we create Sales Order. We procure big quantity of coils to take advantage of scale. Once we procure the raw material, we should be able to create multiple sales orders by consuming the material and stock should reduce automatically/. The sales orders could be both Make to Order or Assembly to Order.

What is the purpose of creating project.

I could not find any manufacturing or assembly process you mentioned in your above post.

Its look like you are buying coil in bulk and selling as and when required.

Please give some more details to understand your requirement.

We are buying steel coils and Roll Formed them based on the clients requirements, size, Curving etc. That is why I mentioned that it could be ATO or MTO.

Please consider MTO scenario. I hope you will buy coils based on the requirement.

If I am not mistaken roll formed will be your finished Goods.

Create BOM and Routing for FG and attach in the project structure and do MRP to get planned order / PR and also create production order. Settle production order to WBS and create delivery from project CNS0.

since you are buying steel earlier you can consider advance procurement for steel so that system wont generate PR during MRP.

The business requirement is right, that a contract(Saler order) with customer should exist for the project to incur expense(Consumption).Only when project is released you can incur expenses, so you can create a user status with proper authorisation check and assign the authorisation to the appropriate User who check for the existence of sales order before permitting release of any project.

In this way you can achive this business requirement.

Ofcourse Q is the stock type for project stock.

But I am not able to understand "How you created a Q stock type?"

To achieve this I have created Q Stock type

When you select the project stock in the control data tab of project definition, automatically it will pick up special procurement indicator "Q" for your procurement.If this is done when you consume these material automatically the project stock will reduce.
