BW Web reporting fails

Hi,

I have a one huge BW report and it can be accessed in BEX .However, when i try to execute the same report in Web, there is error message 'An error has occured.Restart'.

Is there any limitation to web reporting?

Appreciate if anyone could highlight what is causing this.

Thank you.

Regards,

maili

    Dear Maili,

Probably this report is really huge and is exceeding your memory.

check if the same issue occurs on RSRT2 transaction.

If occurs, a abap dump will occurs with some recommendations about system parameters.

Check if your parameters are the same of teh recommended.

You can also try to update the BI Java patch, but in your case, I recommend you to use filters or remove some characteristics from your query.

    Thank you for your attention.

    Best Regards,

    Edward John

      HI ,

Thanks for your responses. AFter executing the report in Web, i have checked in ST22 and notice there is abap dump.

Abap Dump : Unable to fulfil request for 289848876 bytes of memory space.

Can anyone suggest what can be done here? How abt Transaction code RZ11.

Appreciate guidance from anyone who is familiar.

      Thank you.

Details of abap dump as follow :

      -

      ztta/roll_area (1.000.000 - 15.000.000)

Classic roll area per user and internal mode

usual amount of roll area per user and internal mode

      ztta/roll_extension (10.000.000 - 500.000.000)

Amount of memory per user in extended memory (EM)

      abap/heap_area_total (100.000.000 - 1.500.000.000)

Amount of memory (malloc) for all users of an application

server. If several background processes are running on

one server, temporary bottlenecks may occur.

Of course, the amount of memory (in bytes) must also be

available on the machine (main memory or file system swap).

      Caution:

The operating system must be set up so that there is also

enough memory for each process. Usually, the maximum address

      space is too small.

Ask your hardware manufacturer or your competence center

      about this.

In this case, consult your hardware vendor

      ap/heap_area_dia: (10.000.000 - 1.000.000.000)

Restriction of memory allocated to the heap with malloc

      for each dialog process.

      rameters for background processes:

      ap/heap_area_nondia: (10.000.000 - 1.000.000.000)

Restriction of memory allocated to the heap with malloc

      for each background process.

      her memory-relevant parameters are:

      /initial_size_MB: (35-1200)

Extended memory area from which all users of an

application server can satisfy their memory requirement.

    Hello,

When you say it is huge report, can you please specify huge interms of what? Data volume it is displaying or the complaxity of computation done in the query.

You also said, that this query can be successfully accessed through BEx, therefore, I do not see any reason for not able to access this query through web.

I would request you to check the web report and see is something is not wrongly designed there.

You can also try one more thing is, you can execute the same query through RSRT to see if you can access the query and not. Also try running some small queries through RSRT and see if that works fine.

    • Please run as Web Reports in RSRT **
