Hi,
For outbound Idoc scenario's, we have updated idoc meta data in IDX2, just wanted to know is this fine or do we have to explicity import idoc into design [IR], just wanted to get clarification on this.
Thanks
Selvam
I think updating meta data using transaction idx2 is enough.

Hi Gopal,
Thanks for your reply.
So it is not required to explicity import idoc objects into import objects in Integration repository ? Is that true ?
The reason am asking is imported idoc object is accidentally got deleted in IR but the still the message flow is happening without issues, recently the idoc structure has been updated with a new segment so the message flow for this new segment will happen shortly but the meta data has been updated in IDX2 for the recent changes so just wanted to double check, anyway we will re-importing the idoc again. Please confirm.
Thanks
Selvam
Hi Selvam,
How are you planning to change the structure in mapping (in IR/ESR) if you are not re importing the Idoc?
Since the Idoc structure has changed, you have to do two things:
1. Re import the Idoc structure in IR and refresh the mapping which refers to it. The added segment will reflect automatically but without any mapping to those new fields of course.
2. Delete the Idoc metadata from IDX2 and re import the metadata like previously.
Should not have any issues.

Souvik
Thanks all for your replies. What if there is no mapping, like its just a pass through interface, still is it required. Thanks

Hi Selvam..
If its a direct connection without any mapping etc. then why do u need esr/ir for? Only idx2 config needed.
But, still not clear what scenario you are developing. If its Idoc to file how are you planning to do without mapping and all? Please see my last post above. I am sure that clearly states what you have to do!

Hi Selvam,
As you pointed earlier that this is an outbound idoc. It is expected that you will need a mapping to populate the idoc with data before it is sent to SAP system (say R/3, ISU). If in case you do not have any mapping but still idoc is part of the scenario then following steps are absolutely essential
1. If the idoc has undergone structural changes import it into PI and activate it.
2. Delete the entry of the idoc metadata using IDX2 transaction. Re-importing the idoc metadata structure is not mandatory since once you run the scenario system will automatically import it.
3. Ensure the Idoc structure has been released in the system (ISU,R/3) from where you are importing it into PI otherwise even after following steps 1 and 2, you may find the destination is not receiving idoc data in proper format.

Anupam
Hi,
You will have to import the structure in IR as well so as to see the change in mapping.
