Export to xml does not export chart information

We use Crystal Reports XI to print our water utility bills. We have contracted with a vendor to create ebills for us. They have indicated a preference for xml as the data format they'll use to recreate a pdf image of the bill. When I select to export as xml, the resulting file has no reference to the bar graph that's included in our bill. My question is: how can we create a xml file that has a reference to the bar graph in question?

Hi Diane,

Not through the designer.

Also you can upgrade to CR XI R2 ( version 11.5 ) for free. Make sure you have your keycode saved.

If you upgrade to CR 2008 there is a new feature you can enable to export the charts, it's not available in XI or XI R2 though.

Thank you

Hi Don,

Thank you so much for replying. When you said "not through designer", what do you mean? I will upgrade to the latest service pack for XI. Will that cure the problem?

Sorry, I misunderstood. XI isn't able to export charts. I need to upgrade to Crystal Reports 2008, right?

Correct, In CR 2008 you have an Export Options menu drop down that you can define the export options. XI and XI R2 do not have this feature.

Selecting the Binary type is what you need to enable,

Thanks again

Hi Don,

I spent last week creating the purchase order for an upgrade to Crystal Reports 2011 (Crystal Reports 2008 doesn't run on Windows 7). I received the download email this morning and upgraded my software. The problem, however, still remains. The help file states: "Binary Large Object (BLOB) fields, such as charts, maps, and other types of graphics, are not exported". Do you know of any SAP developers that are able to deal with exporting graphic objects to xml?

Hi Diane,

CR 2008 SP 2 and above is supported on Windows 7, not sure why you said that or where you got the info from.

Click on File, Export and select Manage XML Export Formats. then click on Add and give your option a name and check on the "Include Images and Binary Data (blobs)"

Thank you

Don
