issue on sending external email id

Hi experts,

I ran the report in the background and indicated in the variant that the output be sent to a lotus notes email address. However, I have not received the file after waiting an hour from the job completion time.

And I have verified that there's no limitation in Notes by sending the file to another notes email after downloading it from the spooler.

I tried to send the output from the spooler and this is the return message I received in my SAP Inbox (

send status for document <graphical display of sp

The following status was received for the document<graphical display of spool request 12345 in system>sent by you to the recepent <xyz.local.com>:

<No delivery to because message too long,maximum lenth 20,000,000bytes>)

It looks like there is really a max length of 20,000,000 bytes. Is there anything we can do to up the limit?

Not in SAP but may be in the receiving/Sending mail servers.

Contact your network or email admin. That's not an SAP restriction or setting, nor is it related to ABAP. Your SCOT settings will specify the mail server host and port on the SMTP node definition.

Sending mail server, usually but not 100%, will be your own mail server (company mail server) and receiving mail server could be anything you are sending (like gmail/yahoo/hotmail, etc). I would recommend you to talk with your BASIS/IT about restrictions for mail size.

As sampath said BASIS/IT people can resolve this issue.is there any thing we can do from abaper side

I've never seen a limitation on the SAP side, either in the server instance profile or in the SCOT settings, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. Check OSS for notes. You'll also want to check RZ10 and your instance profile settings and SCOT under Settings->General Parameters. You might also try the GZIP class to compress the attachment. Otherwise, contact SAP if you can find the restriction point.

Hi, You better talk to your mail administrator if there is any limit to your mail server. If not, as brad said, please search OSS note with the message you got.
