Creating material for assets


Is it mandatory to create the material (in MM01) for the assets?.

What could be problem if we do not create material for the assets.

    Hi Meenu

    Usually, there is no hard and fast rule to create a material for assets

    Some companies purchase it as an Inventory and then convert into Asset using 241 movement type

    Some companies directly purchase it using Asset No

    However, if you are an Indian Client - Then you need to use a Material No because you need to maintain Chapter ID and other details for excise purposes.. your MM or CIN (Country India Version) guy would better able to explain this

    No need to create one material per asset.. Just one might be enough for excise purposes
