How to Model Multiple Time Reference Characteristics in InfoCube?

Former Member

Dear experts,

how should I model several time reference characteristics in an InfoCube? E.g. I have a characteristic "Post_Date" for the relevant posting data and a characteristic "Due_Date" for the payment relevant data in each of the records in InfoCube.

In this case, how should I assign these both time characteristics to dimensions?

Thanks for your advice.

Regards,

Joon

Hi,

If you have spare dimension, you put both of them in different dimension.

In case, you have to put them in the same dimensin, verify that the fact to dimension ratio is less than 20%.

Hi Ashutosh, Hi Rahul,

thanks for your reply. Sorry that I did not describe my question clearly. My question was: How can I model two different time characteristics in the Time dimension of an InfoCube? Normally if I have only one time characteristic (e.g. Sales_Date) I can map Sales_Date to the different SAP standard time characteristics (e.g. 0CALYEAR, 0CALMONTH, etc.) in the transformation and they are automatically filled by a time conversion.

In my scenario, I have multiple dates (Post_Date, Bill_Date, Due_Date) in my data model and I am not sure how can I best model them in InfoCube.

Looking forward to your advices!

Thanks,

Joon

Hi ,

Generally while assigning two infoobjects to a same dimension or a different dimesnio we analyze the relationship between the two char. That is if there is one to many relationship we assign them to the same dimension . If there is a many to many relationship we assign them to different dimension.

Hope the above reply was helpful.

Thanks & Regards,
