BOM explosion indicator at BOM item level

Hi,

We are in a make to stock environment..Using planning strategy '10' fo

r the finished products.

For some of the assemblies which is subcontracted, we have the

following situation..

Header material H1 - F, 30 maintained in material master as this is

the sub contracted material

Child part C1 - This is the part, which must not be planned based on

the requirement of H1.This is planned seperately using strategy for components.

For this child part C1, the BOM explosion

indicator is set up, at BOM item level, which has the 'Planning off

indicator' set up thru transaction 'OS17'.

A sub contract PR is raised for the header part H1. After running MRP,

I am still getting a dependent requirement for the Child part, even

though I have set up the BOM explosion indicator set up at BOM item

level.

Pl help with inputs on the following:

1. Will this explosion indicator , work only with select planning strategies? If so what are

indicators I need to maintain for the Header parts / Child parts, to make it work

As per the SAP help documentation, no where it is mentioned that this will work for select planning

strategies? Or is this is to be interpretted.. Pl help on the above issue
