Portal login Page Customization..

Hi,

I have to customize portal login page, that is I have to change the image and all in the portal login page. All that I have done successfully. But I also have to show a link on the portal login page and when user clicks on that link a help document (pdf) should be open. for this I have uploaded a pdf in Portal KM and I have created an KM iview out of that pdf and in portal logon page I have added this HTML line in umLogonTopArea.txt file :

help.pdf" target="_blank">Click here to Open the file!

now user are able to see the link on portal logon page and when user clicks on that link a pop up comes asking user to enter his/her portal login userID and password and when he enters his portal credentials in that pop up than that pdf comes up, till this all is fine.

But than if he refershes the portal logon page OR simply clicks on logon button even without entering his userID and password in default userID and password field of portal, he is able to login into portal. This I do not want.

What I want he has to eneter explicitly into portal for logging in . For opening pdf file he has to enter his credential , this is one separate task.

for logging into portal he has to again eneter logon credentials .

How to solve this issue.

    An insight to your requirement:

Please note that the browser cookies are shared across all the browser windows (in IE versions greater than or equal to IE8). So, once the user is authenticated against the portal in any one of the open IE windows, the cookies will be shared across all the IE windows and hence the user will not require to login again. The newer versions of most of the browsers behave like this.

Up until IE7, the cookies were specific to each window and your requirement should have been achieved.

    Hi!

Is it so necessary to make the PDF help file available for the logged-in users only?

Usually help information is public. Just configure your KM Document iView and related PDF file available for the anonymous access.

      Hi,

      1. When I tried to set anonumous access to the file in the "\documents" folder, the pop-up window appeared too. But when I put the file in the "\etc\public\mimes" folder, everything worked fine. So, somehow the access depends on the folder where the file's stored.

      2. Try to use a relative link: "/irj/go/km/docs/etc/public/mimes/help.pdf". That should work through the whole landscape.

      Regars, Mikhial.

    Hi,

I will give you an work around. If the help document is common, place the help document in the logon PAR file and try referring it using the href tag. Also you can point the PDF in Logon PAR by <%=webpath%>/folder/help.PDF where <%=webpath%> will refer till home folder .

    Regards
