In material master initial screen iam seeing one field Change number, why we need this, in which case we will be using it?

Hi,

This is used in case of Engineering Change management.

In this case, before changing the material master, first user will create an engineering change request (ECR) in tcode CC01, here he selects the fields in which he is going to make changes and same request will get released by an authorised person and then referring this change request no. you can create or change the material master.
