Hi all,

I have created a simulation version in production server. I want to run some scenarios there. Do I need to initialize planning area with simulation version to do that? or I just need to select simulation version while making a selection in sdp94? I would appreciate the help.

Hi Neha,

Mostly model 000 and version 000 may be your active version. Now consider you want to test scenarios in simulation version say "Neha_version". By default the planning area will not have Neha_version. If you test scenarios, then you need to create time series for "Neha_version". Goto //msdp_admin, right click on planning area----> Create time series and specify your version. If you already have other versions in your planning area you can also test your scenarios there. You can see the versions available for the planning area using the below path:

//msdp_admin-> Right click on planning area name--> Created time series objects.

Thanks and Regards,

Nithin.

Hey Nithin,

Thanks a lot for a reply. Actually I wanted to ask if I initialize a PA using a simulation version neha_version would it harm the data in active version 000 for which PA has already been initialized? Is there any risk of data loss from a PA?

Neha,

When you create and initialize new planning version in addition to "000" it will not delete your data in Planning Version "000".

In the interactive planning, you would have to select the simulation version to work on it. By default it will select "000" in selection profile.

Hope this answer helps.

Hi Neha,

As Tushar as said there will no loss of data. You are just creating one more version. The data in both the versions will be different. You can work independently. While loading in interactive planning(//sdp94) make sure you choose the proper version in the shuffler.

Thanks and Regards,

Nithin.

Hi Neha,

Sorry for not understanding your question. Planning area will be initialized for some version say 000. Now if you want to use a different version for testing scenarios you need to create that version for the planning area. I think this is what i explained in my first reply.

//msdp_admin->Right click on planning area>Create time series>Enter your new version which you want(ex: Neha_version)>Mention the from and to dates--> Execute.

Then new version for planning area will be created along with old ones. You can use this version by selecting this version in the shuffler in //sdp94. Data will be separate for 000 as well as Neha_version.

I hope this explains your problem.

Thanks and Regards,

Nithin.

Hi Nitin,

Thanks for the reply, I got u. So I do not need to initialize PA with neha_version to use it, right?

Hi Neha,

Ya it is compulsory to initialize a planning area to work with that planning area. You cant do anything with a de-initialized planning area.

Hope this answers your question.

Thanks and Regards,

Nithin.
