Does SPM depend on BO XI

Hi All,

Our client is looking to implement SAP BO SPM and I need to know whether SPM is a standalone application or it runs on BO Enterprise Server where the BI Tools like WebI or Xcelsius works.

If it does not require BOE Server then where does the SPM performs the processing.

And also we have ECC, BW and EP in place. Can SPM be accessed via EP.

Thanks,

Neelesh

Hi Neelesh,

SPM application run on top of BW 7.0 SPM application needs both BW ABAP & BW JAVA stack to function.

The SPM UI is delivered to the end user through the BW portal and all the OLAP processing is done on the BW ABAP side.

SPM application does not need any BO components to run.

We do have extractor started kits that can be installed on ECC to extract the necessary data to populate the SPM BW data model.

Thanks Rohit for the quick reply.

One more question, does the SPM UI is capable of creating Queries for Adhoc Analysis or we need to use the regular BEx Query Designer.

or

Please let me know what are the capabilties or things that can be done via SPM UI.

Hi Neelesh,

Yes, SPM UI does allow users to build adhoc reports based on the BW query that is exposed to the UI. You do not need query designer to do adhoc analysis.

Please read up on the application functionality on help.sap.com "http://help.sap.com/saphelp_spm21/helpdata/en/dd/825287ddf54871b3236abab8085a46/frameset.htm"

Hi Neelesh

Rohit has already explained you the tech stack for SPM.

Here is a supporting blog that details the architecture:
