Thanks for all the information, but i need a little clarification based on the 9/80 work schedule, i check the company holiday calendar and i am showing it only has christmas day on the assign list. then i check our work schedule, for example we has a holiday on friday (easter) but when i check the work schedule it shows it a regular working date,( so i believe the calendar is not set up to identify those holiday), so what we do is manual enter our holiday or any deviation in the working plan eg holiday and vacation in our CAT time sheet. so back to my question: since we only have christmas day assign to our company calendar, can i create a new calendar or i use the existing calendar without changes and go ahead and create my DWS, or do i use the existing calendar and modify it by adding a floating public holiday since i am creating a new work schedule which will have a split day on friday, working 4hr on am shift, working 4hr afternoon shift base on the below requirement.

Ist week : M-Th 9hrs

F-8hr (split 4hr am "same day end" ) to complete 40hrs work week example (8-12noon)

Sat & Sun off

2nd week: F-8 hr (split 4hr PM " same day start") example (1pm-5pm)

M-Th 9hrs

Off friday, Sat, and Sun to complete 40hrs work week

based on every other friday off.

Thanks once again, you guys have been helpful

A Holiday Calendar needs to be modified when the list of Holidays change for all the employees (one more or one less), and a new Holiday Calendar needs to be created when the list of Holidays change for only some of the employees.

What you describe seems to be a "special" Periodic Work Schedule that includes four different Daily Work Schedules;

9.0 HRS, 4.0 HRS AM, 4.0 HRS PM and OFF.

If that is the case, there is no need to create a new Holiday Calendar.

Thank you so much Remi, just one last question and i believe i will be straight, i have an example on how to split the friday schedule , using the example below:

Assumption based on what I understood from your problem statement: Your work schedule has:

1. Normal working hours from Mon-Thu

2. Fri working hours (if first Friday): normal

3. Fri working hours option 2: first half working only

4. Fri working hours option 3: second half working only

5. Sat and Sun are off.

If my understanding is correct, you can carry out the following steps:

1. Set floating public holidays for all Fridays in your holiday calendar, with Holiday Class (HC) 9 for first-half working days and HC 8 for second half working days.

2. Set 2 variants for your Friday DWS - one with first half working hours and one with second half working hours

3. Set a DWS rule to query the HC and assign the appropriate variant to the appropriate Friday (e.g.: If HC (today)=9 and HC (tomorrow)=0-9 and today = friday, then assign variant A).

4. Regenerate all your work schedules.

based on what you said and the way our system is configure with the calendar only shows one holiday which is christmas holiday. and we enter our holiday code manual into cats system. so i believe i can skip the calendar process but how do i split those friday, which the employee has to work the first 4hr am shift to complete their 40hr and start same day (friday) another 4hr afternoon shift to begin the second week so making a complete 40 hrs base on the 9/80 schedule since the second week friday is consider off day.

I bold the step i am not sure about on the step above...which is step 2

Thank you once again for your assistance.

Do a little search in this forum as someone else had a question relating to the 9/80 schedule.

If I remember correctly, they had a split Friday and wanted to get rid of them.

And after reading your reply, I realized that I had misunderstood your requirement since you have now explained that the employee must work 8 hours on the first Friday and 0 hours on the second Friday, and that 8 hour shift should be "split" between Week 1 and Week 2.

DWS have to be created before PWS.

PWS and Holiday Calendars have to be created before PWS Rules.

Start where you want. Personnally, I would start with the Holiday Calendar, and then check if some of the required DWS already exist.
