During download of products from ERP to CRM, some BDocs will go into error status because of the following errormessage:
"Data cannot be maintained for set type CRM_SERIALNUM. Message no. COM_PRODUCT503"
After executing some analysis if found the following information:
the bdoc's with status "error" contain the following content (settypes) within MNT_SETTYPE segment:
within CRM all settypes above, except for CRM_SERIALNUM, are assigned to the following standard category:
R3PRODSTYPE --> PRODSUBTYPE --> MATERIALTYPE (tcode COMM_HIERARCHY).
For some reason settype CRM_SERIALNUM was assigned to a Z category instead of the standard category R3PRODSTYPE.
When applying a temporary workaround, eg manually assigning the Z category to a product in CRM, then i'm able to re-process the failed BDocs without any issue.
To be able to implement a structural solution i would like to assign settype CRM_SERIALNUM to category R3PRODSTYPE in CRM and remove it from the Z category. However i can't delete settype CRM_SERIALNUM from the Z category anymore, because the system indicates that "products of this hierarchy already exist. Settype cannot be deleted anymore"
Does anyone know what the correct process should be in for assigning settype CRM_SERIALNUM to category R3PRODSTYPE in CRM?
