System Copy Win 2003/SQLServer 2008 to WinServer 2008 R2 using ERP 6.0 SR3

Dear Experts,

I have ECC 6.0 EHP4 in SAP Netweaver 7.01 SPS 6 on Win Server 2003 SP2 / SQL Server 2008 SP1 and need to make a System Copy to the platform Win Server 2008 R2 / SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM, using ERP 6.0 SR3.

The questions are:

1 .- It is possible to make a System copy, given the above conditions?. If so, what considerations should I take into account?.

2 .- I'll have to upgrade my home ECC 6.0 HP4 Netweaver 7.01 SPS 6 to SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Support Release 3?.

3 .- According to the documentation of NW 7.0 SR3, this includes Support Package Stacks from 01 to 14 ... the question is: will I have to upgrade my current SAP NW 7.01 SPS 6 to the Support Package Stack 14 contained in the Support Release SR3?.

I hope I explained.

Thanks in advance.

This is not upgrade. This is degrade of support packages. ECC 6.0 with EHP4 is latest than SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Support Release 3.

You can migrate your system to win 2008. You just need to read correct system copy guide. Check system copy guide for EHP4 based systems.

    Thanks

    Hi Alfredo,

You want to do a downgrade from Netweaver 701 to Netweaver 700. This is not possible. Can you tell us why you want to do that?

    1. No that is not possible. You can do a system copy from ECC 6.0 EHP4 in SAP Netweaver 7.01 SPS 6 on Win Server 2003 SP2 / SQL Server 2008 SP1 to ECC 6.0 EHP4 in SAP Netweaver 7.01 SPS 6 on Win Server 2008 R2 / SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM.

    2. That's also not possible because it is not an upgrade, it is a downgrade.

    3. here you are talking about the equivalenve support packages between the version 700 and 701 or ERP 6 and ERP 6 EhP 4.

Netweaver 701 and ERP 6 EHP 4 are higher release version of nw and erp as nw 700 end erp without ehp. that means that the shipment of 701 was later and also with fewer errors. so you can say something like NW 700 SP 14 has the same error corrections like NW 701 SP 6.

It doesn't make sense to upgrade your system first to downgrade it a few moments later....

I am very interested in your reasons to do this downgrade. Maybe it's just a misunderstanding :o)

    regards, Martin
