Deployment of self contained reporting system not working

I created a windows application reporting system which contains Crystal Reports. I have built the application and added a setup and install project as well with the Merge Modules attached. However, when I go to deploy it I continue to get errors i regards to Crystal Reports, some dll is missing (I.E. file IO file not found error) Right now it is happening on log4net.dll.

Here is my setup:

The windows app was developed on a 64-bit machine with VS2010 and the latest upgrade for Crystal Reports.

The windows app was built with a build config of All CPU.

All Crystal reports are contained within the windows app, a server is not hosting any of the reports.

The windows app runs directly from the users PC.

All users are within the confines of my building.

The winodws app does not connect to the Internet at all.

WWhat do I need in order for this app to run on all of the PC's within my building (pc's are either 32-bit or 64-bit)

    Do not use "Any CPU", use either 32 bit or 64 bit.

    Use the search box at the top right corner of this web page and enter the term;

    log4net crystal

    You'll get 4 Kbases and a few forum posts re log4net.

    • Some of the kbases refer to web applications because that was the environment where the issue was reported. The issue is more to do with how the application is compiled - 32 bit or 64 bit. You'll want to ensure you target each platform because Any CPU will cause some issues with runtime on production systems.

      If you are having issues building your project I suggest you look at kbase article - 1550854 - "Could not load file or assembly 'log4net' or one of its dependencies" Error when building Visual Studio 2010 solution utilizing the Crystal Reports .NET Runtime.
