Prevent users from ability to drill down into a variable length subreport.

I have a report which contains a subreport. I want to prevent the user from being able to click on the subreport to launch it. This subreport can return some infinite number of rows. I have seen the workarounds to cover the subreport with a text box, but it doesn't work for variable sized subreports. I am having trouble believing that there is no way to suppress this drill through. Has anyone discovered a solution?
