Can you please explain me with real time scenarios

Web Intelligence Rich Client is just a standalone version of the Web Intelligence Java Report Panel that lets you work with Web Intelligence documents without connecting to the Central Management Server (CMS).Web Rich client can be use in offline mode, you can also connect to CMS and work with Web Intelligence documents.

But in the web intelligence report by infoview every time it connect to the CMS.

you can also create reports based on personal data providers such as text or excel files using Web Intelligence Rich Client.

Other side universe is only source of webi.

Thanks,

Amit

Hey there,

Just recollected, I used Input Controls using Web Intelligence thin client also!

Cheers!

...my two cents.

Webi rich client does everything Webi web client does, and also:

- can work offline

- can have an Excel file as a data provider

- can be used to setup BI Services (in XI3.1 SP2.5 and SP3. In BI4.0 you can now do this in the web client).

- can relieve a bit of the pain caused by Webi/InfoView time out - if that's a problem for you.

Still, I mostly use the web client because it doesn't have the additional 7 mouse clicks of importing/opening/saving/exporting.

Also, in SP3, input controls can be used in the web client. Not sure about SP2.

Hope that helps.

I agree with David because with WebI Rich Client you don't have to worry with this bugging time out issue

I have a doubt. Please clarify..

How does the query processing work in the offline mode? If we are creating new reports. Does the WRC cache database information on the local machine or alternatively how does the WRC connect to the data source in the offline mode?

The rich client doesn't connect to the original data source in offline mode.

Hi,

Adding to the answer above,

From version XIR3.1 SP2 onwards, we have the new functionality of Input Controls, which works similar to prompts where you can either selcet one or more values and see the data in the report accordingly. But this is done at the report level, not at the query level. So, if you want to set up Input Controls, you should use Rich Client

I havent tried setting up Input Controls through thin client. My guess is, we cannot set up Input Controls through thin client.

Any inputs on this are welcome!

Thanks, Hope it helps !!!!
