cost assignment to CO-PA segment

We have a business requirement to enable the user to assign costs to a CO-PA segment when entering an expense report. We have not been successful with configuring a CO profitability segment as a valid cost assignment object. We have successfully configured Cost Center and Order as valid Accounting Objects. Anyone know whether CO-PA segment may be configured as a valid accounting object for expense reports? If so, please share experience.

You can assign cost from CO to CO-PA:

- if the costs where orinally assigned to an internal order or project, you can settle them to a profitability segment ;

-if the costs where originally assigned to a cost center, you can transfer them to CO by an assemsent cycle (you can create your profitability segment in the assessment cycle)

You can assign a profitability segment directly form an FI document only if you have the cost element defined in a transfer structure to CO-PA .

Unfortunately not, The fields which can be stored in the posting run tables are limited. The profitability segment is not amongst these fields which can be stored in the posting line table PTRV_DOC_IT.

Therefore it is not possible to post travel expense direct to CO-PA. You have to allocate the travel expense to cost elements (e.g. cost centers, orders, projects (WBS), sales orders) and then settle costs from CO to profitability segments.
