Problem with defining R/3 system in UM configuration

Ia m trying to set up the connection from EP6sp2 to an R/3 4.7 system. R/3 is not using a message server.

When I test the connection I am getting the following error

(System ID): com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (101) RFC_ERROR_PROGRAM: Open file 'C:\WINNT\sapmsg.ini' failed

There are some notes for this in EP 5, but none are working

How is your connection configured in EP6?

Check the following:

- Does sapmsg.in exist? If not create it

- ensure that the user that is running the SAP service has the correct rights to access the sapmsg.ini file

Thanks Ive got it, it does not require sapmsg.ini for connection to an app server. I was incorrectly entering the field "system name"
