Dear Olivia,

As i understood Master Data can be created in CRM as well as ISU.What is the best practice? Where we can create the following master data compnent and at what stages during the customer interaction and which all department ae responsible for creating the master data

1. Business Partner

2. Business Agrrement

3. Contract

4. Connection Object

5. Premise

Hi Hrishikesh,

From customer interaction perspective:

1. Business Partner and Business Agreement is created by Customer Service Representative when customer approaches for new service. (sometimes, only Business Partner is created)

2. If customer agrees to buy service from utility company, then field service representative will visit the site and will install necessary technical equipments. Based on the details from service address - Connection Object, Premise, Device and Installation is created in system (if technical master data is available, then it will be re-used). So, technical master data will be created by Field Service Team.

3. Finally, move-in is created where Utility Contract is created.

Above process varies from customer requirement to requirement and it depends on department to department. The above process varies if utility company is in deregulated environment.

As far as best practice is concerned - You already have the link from Olivia. Also check out - [CRB Integration: CRM-IS|; .

From Data Migration perspective, create data in ISU and replicate them to CRM.

HI Avinash ,

Thanx for the quick and helpful response.Have few more doubts.

As you mentioned in

Point No. 1: BP is created in CRM but as I understood ISU BP has role MKK( Contract partner) which is not there in CRM.With which role we have to create the BP in CRM? How replication from CRM to ISU will happen?

*Point No. 2 : The technical master data will be created by Field Service Team. What this field service team consists of? are they CRM users? or they are the one from ,say ,Eng or maintenance, construction department ( who carry out the processes like cabling, ducting, installing the meter and all). Are they falling under CRM or this will happen out of CRM.

Hi Hrishikesh,

As far as business partner replication from CRM to ECC is concerned, if you have required setting in place, CRM business partner will get replicated to business partner MKK role. You will get all necessary details from [Replicating SAP CRM Master Data|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60/helpdata/en/45/6f55c1c4fd1956e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm].

For second point, yes they are the guys from maintenance team / engineering team who will physically install devices.

Hi Avinash,

This is regarding the Technical Master Data creation. As mentioned by you in Point No 2 ,the TMD is created by the field service represntative ,but Where it has to be created in CRM ISU scenario. In ISU or CRM? Also where the Installation to be created in CRM or ISU?

Hi Hrisikesh,

It again depends on your business process. Technical master data belongs to ISU. However, you can create them from CRM (where Master Data Template will play important role) or you can also create them directly in ISU and necessary data will be replicated back to CRM. (It is applies to Installation too)
