Hello,
I'm in the process of moving BOE XI 3.1 server to new Data Center. I have two servers which they are clustered and have database located in external DB. DB will have to move to new location as well. Can you review my procedure below and see if this sound ok? Or let me know if there's a better way. I just don't want to mix up old cluster info in new servers since server name is different. Thanks.
1. Install same XI 3.1 version in new servers with SQL DB option.
2. Use import wizard to "Export Server Configuration" from new server.
3. Shutdown both XI 3.1 in old and new servers.
4. Do Database migration to new DB server.
5. Change DB connection in new server from SQL to Oracle in new DB.
6. Start SIA in primary
7. use import wizard to import BIAR "Restore full cluster server config".
8. Start SIA in secondary.
9. Review the server lists from CMD and remove any old servers
I have doubs about #2 and #7
Hope you create new SIA pointing to new DB in #5
In general here is what I'd do :
1. Install same XI 3.1 version in new servers with SQL DB option.
2. Test new servers with default content .
3. Shutdown both XI 3.1 in old and new servers.
4. Do Database migration to new DB server.
5. Create new SIA pointing to new DB server on new server 1
6. Move FRS from current location to the new location
7. If old Xi3.1 servers are retired - leave cluster name the same, if they are still runing - change cluster name to new one.
8. Start SIA in on new server 1
9. Point FRS to correct location
10. create new SIA on new server 2 pointing to new DB server, which will cluster server 1 and 2, start second SIA
11. point second node FRS to the right location
12. Review the server lists from CMS and remove any old servers
p.s.
there were quite a few posts in this forums on this sort of scenarious.
