Hi,
I'm using BOXI 3.1 SP2 to publish a number of Crystal Reports 2008 objects. As an administrator I am able to design a new report in CR2008 and Save it to the Enterprise repository without any difficulties. I am now trying to pass on some of my responsibilities to a junior but I don't want them to have full access to all the objects held within the repository. If possible I would like them to have full permissions to a folder of my chosing and read only permissions to the other folders. I have achieved the second task as they can view the other folders but can not make changes. I have attempted to achieve the first task my granting the group they belong to Full Access to the chosen folder. This sort of works.
I plan on them opening a report design obtained from a ReadOnly folder, editing it and then saving it back to their FullAccess folder. But, when they attempt to open the report from the ReadOnly folder they get the following message:
"The report could not be opened from BusinessObjects Enterprise. Possibly the report is on a different BusinessObjects Enterprise system than the one you are currently logged onto. If the problem persists, please contact your administrator."
From browsing the web the solutions appear to be port related, but I was wondering if it is actually permission based.
Any ideas on how I can get my staff to be able to open existing report designs without granting them full access to everything?
Thanks,
Mike
