We have been using WCM on ECC 6.0 since 2006, but are only now actually going to use it to create the switching order forms and to print tags. Can anyone already doing this please share their experiences in selecting the manufacturer/printers themselves and also how you configured the printers into your system? I am having difficulty selecting a printer manufacturer and in getting my ABAP staff to understand how the printer gets connected to WCT7 so it is easy for the Operations staff to send the print order to the printer. Any help would be appreciated.
Wendy
Thanks for the information Kannan. I was already aware of the configuration settings and really wanted to hear more about how others have done this. What kind of printer used, did you modify the Sapscript etc. In looking so far, we are unable to find anyone who can print on labels that already carry the red DANGER printing on the back side. It looks like we are going to have to print our 'tag' on a gummed label and stick it on the front side of our danger tags - a step I was hoping to avoid.

Dear Wendy,
There are several types of label printers available in the market.Better your plant technical people can find one which can print tags which is already having a DANGER sign in the back. Once they finalise the printer the ABAPER can create the forms suited to the dimension of the paper.
I know one of my users use Zebra make model GX42T which prints the tags in label size and cuts each tags after printing.
For danger tags in the form itself we have given the heading as DANGER.

Hi Wendy,
You have to assign the form and printer in the following config node:
Work clearance management->master data->print control
Here for tags ;
You have to enter the plant , P=4 for tags and 5 for test tags
PF= the print format you have cretaed in the config (say XXXX) Work clearance management->lockout/tag out->define print format for operational tags
As far as printer is concerned you can assign either a default output device or a common local out put device (like LOCL).In case of local common output device , while printing tags the system will prompt the user to select the printer from the list of printers in their local system.
Hope this will help
Best regards
