Support package basis - which test?

We want to install support package 14 for netweaver 7.0 (we are actual on sp12), so just sap basis (SAP ABA, SAP Basis component 7.00, PI_BASIS 2005_1_700, SAP Business Information Warehouse)

Which tests are necessary after installation? Only technical type or also functional type? In your experience this 'little' upgrade can be managed with only few sistem test in quality system?

Thanks for help.

Best regards

Matteo

Usually "yes", if you use BW you may do some more tests but basically you should be safe.

Just one question for curiosity: Why don't you apply the latest support packages if you're going to have a downtime anyway?

    Thanks for help Markus

we want to upgrade to sp14 for new functionalities about web service (see SAP note 1169688)

the problem is that: tests will be made only by me (i'm a technical), and what I can do is see if the procedures in quality system will go well after installing sp14, but they are only a small fraction of the corresponding procedures found in production system (only for BW we have a quality system as a perfect copy of production).

My purpose is have new functionalities about web service with little work about test and especially little chance to have problems after installing new support package

We have also checked the side effort report on sap market: as your experience is better apply also sap notes in that side effetort report?

    Best regards

Matteo - what battery of tests do you expect to run (exact list)

Markus - what techincal tests would you run ? Do you know if any 'standard' list is recommended by SAP or even included in an ECATT scenario ?

Also, Markus, your remark about implementing the latest SP is an interesting one: many customers I have seen throughout the years are reluctant to implement the latest SP (usually, more comfortable to implement the one before last): in your experience, do you find the latest SP to be usually stable, or is is quickly followed thereafter with a series OSS notes .

the only test before transport in production will be these:

    - ECC 6.0: i have a list of jobs that run in night: i can run these jobs (not all, but the most important) in quality system, but my test is only technical (dump, error message...), not about functional result; then I thought I would leave the new sp in quaity for 1-2 weeks, just to monitor any error feedback during normally use of functional team

    - BW: in quality system all process chain are scheduled as in production, so i can monitor dump, error message...

For you are too little tests? Is danger but not impossible or very crazy?

I quickly saw the description for all notes in sp13 and sp14 (we are in sp12):do not seem to cause problems about functional process

    Thanks
