Buisness parter data in MDM

Hi All,

1. I need to maintain my buisness partner data in my repository. my buisness partner address are located in different geographies(IN, MX, US etc), and the same having differnt names like ABC ltd, ABC Inc, ABC etc.

How can these be maintained in MDM?(without using any external interfaces)

and why exaclty is D&B used in MDM, is it used to maintain hierarchies? how?

Please help me understand.

rgds,

ve

a standard repo schema for BP is provided by SAP

its there for sure in MDM 7.1 - not sure if it was there in 5.5 as well - i remember yes

as long as u can extract ur BP details from SAP system (XML , excel format) - thru table extraction / small report to generate a xml or excel importing them to MDM is not an issue

if u need to automate this - u can have PI inbetween ur SAP system and MDM

    D&B - ?? clarify

    thanks

Adrivit ........ thanks for the quick reply............ let me explain in more detail.

my Business partnes located in diffent geographies(IN, MX, US etc), and different names like ABC Ltd, ABC Inc etc

so they are actually linked with some relationships.

like ABC Ltd and ABC Inc are related to ABC group.

so should this be maintaned using hierarchies, if yes..... can i maintain my hierarchies at a later stage.

Meaning: i want to load all my data into the MDM repositoy without the vendor hierarchy data.

and later on i want to import my hierarchy, because we have some issues with understanding this data. IF this is possible ........ HOW and What is the process followed and what is the impact?

Also wanted to know .... what is D&B(Dun and Bradstreet) and why is used exacltly in MDM.

      pls reply.

      regards,

    1. yes it is technically possible to load all data in repo without the hierachy str in place

    2. you can later build the hierarchy once they are decided or clear

(you can manually create the hierarchies or if they are too many - export the BP names from the main table - group in excel and then upload the hierachies)

impact : not sure as u have not explained - but if theres a relation between the main table records and the Hierarchy (i believe there will be ) that cant be established now - for the simple reason theres no heirachy values now

but once u have the hierachy in place - you can manually link them to the BP in main table or do an upload (update NULL fields) of the records one more time with the link with hierarchy. - no devastating impact but a little stupid and more effort

but ideally its no fun to upload the records withot knowing the hierarhcy.

and btw dont forget the points !

    thanks
