Dear Vijay,

Check this,

Your requirement cannot be mapped directly in SAP.Activate ECM for a specific BOM usage purpose.

1.Make ECM mandatory for all the users when creating/changing BOM.

2.Provide the authorization for the Engineering people for creating change numbers with release key.

3.Production people will be allowed to create/change BOM but not a change number ,so using the

change number let the production people create BOM,but unless if the relese key is not set in CC02

after creating BOM then the BOM will not become valid.

4.But some of the contraints are always your Engineering people should create a change number(for

changing existing BOM wihtout release key,for creating BOM with release key) in order to have the

better control.

(or else create BOM always with inactive status 2,by making the necessary configuration in T code OS28 and once the BOM is

ready, you can set the status to 1 in CS02. - I'm not sure whether this works out, check and confirm).

Check and come back with your queries.

I have done changes as you mention default BOM status 1 is not active but when creating the BOM from T code CS01 the BOM status can be changed in the same as 2 - active instead of 1.

How would we restrict the BOM status from the User.

Hi Vijay,

As i told earlier its a work around, user training and authorization are two key factor

1 At CS01 he can maintain status active but he has to maintain non active

2 to make it release give limited authorization of CS01and CS02 to key user

check whit above points if you can convince you client

Dear Sir,

By creating only the person can change the BOM status from 2 Inactive to 1 Active.

There is different think to authorized limited person for CS01 and Limited to CS02

How to disable to BOM Status from CS01.Please guide me.

Or please give me Authorization Object so that i will restrict the same in CS01.

This i required because in our organisation we required the BOM should be created by Bom Mangement team and The head of the department will authorize to release the same. Please try to understand there is no relay on BOM mangement team that is the reason i required this.

Thanks and regards,

HI Pabale

If your requirment is systm will not use (user) created BOM for Productio then go for

Plant specific status (OMS4) - in Purchasing view or Basic data view or MRP 1 View

Create your wone status in (OMS4) - for bloking of BOM

This is a work around and you can cantrol through CS02 (once you remove plant specific status the bom is released for use)

But at the time of creation of BOM you must enter the Plant specific status as blocked

Hi,

Create the workflow for it and assign the person's mail in the receipt who is going to release the BOM i.e. make it active.

Once the BOM is created, maintain it as In-active and once it saved, it will send the mail to the resp. person who will release the BOM.

Thanks

Hi dear,

In OS28 you can set the default status of BOM as incative so your BOM will be created in inactive state and when it is completeed in all the repsect you have to change that status of that BOM from inactive to active.

By this your requirement will be met.

Hi, Go to BOM header check what is status, it should be 1 at present.

Use this field make default it '2' in place of one. so at the time of cration BOM is inactive & can't be use any where.

when u want to use it & it fully valid go to chnage it in '1'. now bom is active & ready to use.

Hi ,

There's not Release strategy in BOM. I totally understand what you want. You need to setup the engineering change management (ECM).

Please check out what you need to do with ECM.You can control the progress of changes with an engineering change request (ECR) or an engineering change order (ECO).

An engineering change request is a change master record with reference to a change type. Since processing change objects with an ECR/ECO enables you to control changes in a more precise way, you cannot create a change request with the Change leader (Leading change master record) function.

There's ECR VS ECO, I would suggest you to setup ECR / Change Master Record since ECO is more complicated.

In the R/3 System, change master records are identified by a change number.

Each change number will be your approval to "approve" the BOM release.

ECR creating screen CC31, but you need to have better understanding about ECR.

Hope you understand what i mean.

TQ
