Managing inventory pieces

Hi experts,

I have the following problem.

We plan to use our SAP BO to sell cut pieces of blankets. So far we are selling entire rolls to our customers. Now we would like to take them out of inventory, cut and bar the material and sell it to our customers. Since we don't sell it any more as one piece there is the need to manage cutting waste, additional labor and bars. The rest of the roll should go back in stock until it is used completely.

Is there a way in Business One to keep track of e.g. remaining sqm or cutting waste? Do we need a separate warehouse to store these rolls which are not sold as one piece?

Thanks in advance for any contribution.

Hi,

If you want to take them out of inventory, best way would be issue them out or transfer them to a special warehouse. It is subject to the cost percentage to find the best fit. How much in total are those inventory? 10% of your whole inventory?

Thanks,

Gordon

I think in our case it makes sense to transfer them to a special warehouse. I think this should not be a problem. But the most important thing is how to keep track of additional labor cost for cutting and how to record leftovers (in sqm) and cutting waste.

If they are important to your business, you need new item codes to control them.

Hi......

Can you not use Production module in you case?

You can maintain stock properly including labour cost in this......

Hope this will work out for you. Try once......

Rahul
