Hi,
We have configure SSO in order to connect to SAP R/3. Now, I would like to access from R/3 to E.P. without entering user and password.
Is it possible to do that ?
Thanks a lot.
Patricio Garcia.
Hi Patricio,
if you mean with "from R/3" to access the portal from a local SAPGUI for Windows, I would say "sorry, no". Although you can of course add a hyperlink to a user's SAP menu that points to the portal, you'll unable to perform SSO from R/3 to EP.
Certainly, the reverse way (launching a local SAPGUI from inside EP) works perfectly with SSO.

Dominik

Hi Patricio,
only for completion: As a portal (from a strategic point of view) serves as the main entry point for users, it should be the first system to authenticate againt and thus the "starting point" for an SSO infrastructure.
If however, you want to integrate R/3 and EP in an SSO environment without forcing the user to logon to EP neccessarily first, you would have to look for some alternate technology. You might try one of the existing SSO products available on the market (Netegrity, IBM TAME just to name a few) or think of using either digital certificates or Windows authentication. Although in these cases the assertation of having authenticated the user already would not be transferred form R/3 to EP, an end user will not see any difference.
I hope this answers your questions and gives you some food for thought. If so, my I kindly ask to see look what is hidden behind the yellow star icon next to my messages? (Hint: It's the way to say "thanks" on SDN)
Iam working in SAP R/3 and how can I switch to mySAP suite from R/3? Thanks.

Hi Patricio,
You had some good answers, but did you forget to give points? It's a way to say "thanks".
Click on the Yellow Star icon in each reply.
You can give:
1 - 10 pointer (solves problem, marks as answered)
2 - 6 pointers (very helpful)
Lots of 2 pointers (helpful)
This time I did it for you, but you can change it.
Cheers,
Joan (and Mark Finnern)
